🌍 Who are we?
Operating across Europe and Asia, WeMaintain specialises in the maintenance and modernisation of lifts, escalators, automatic doors and fire safety systems, combining hands-on technical expertise with technology and data.
Our approach is built on a simple belief: maintenance can be more reliable, transparent and effective when teams have the right tools, the autonomy to make decisions and a clear understanding of what’s happening across the equipment they look after.
Since 2026, Otis has been our majority shareholder. WeMaintain continues to operate independently, retaining its own organisation and culture while benefiting from additional resources to support our growth.
Three core values guide the way we work every day:
Care (looking after others): treating colleagues and customers with respect, consideration and a genuine sense of responsibility.
Grit (determination): seeing things through with high standards, commitment and perseverance.
Uniqueness (being different): embracing different perspectives, fresh ideas and new ways of doing things.
Our ambition is to raise the standards of maintenance, alongside the people who make it happen every day.
👀 About the Role
At a glance
Salary: £52,000–£62,000 per year
Area: London
We’re looking for an experienced Repair Engineer to join our Operations team in London, focusing on the repair and technical reliability of the lifts we look after. When components fail, faults get complex or equipment needs significant work, we need an engineer who can investigate the problem, find the right solution and carry out the work to a high standard.
Repairing lifts isn’t just about swapping faulty parts. It’s about understanding why something failed, assessing the equipment as a whole and choosing a solution that lasts, rather than getting a lift running again temporarily. Our digital tools give you each lift’s maintenance history and condition, so you can make informed decisions in the field.
🔎 What you’ll do
Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs, replacing faulty or worn components to the right technical standards.
Investigate complex faults using your technical knowledge, drawings and diagnostic tools.
Assess the work required, identify the parts, equipment and support needed, and coordinate with Operations to complete repairs safely and efficiently.
Run the right checks and functional tests before returning lifts to service.
Follow regulations, risk assessments, isolation procedures and safe systems of work on every intervention.
Work with other engineers on recurring faults and repairs that need extra expertise or resources.
Record completed repairs, replaced components, outstanding issues and recommendations for further work.
👑 Who we’re looking for
A hands-on lift engineer with solid technical experience and a genuine interest in fault-finding and repair work: methodical, curious and determined to get to the root of a problem rather than apply a short-term fix.
What you’ll need
Proven hands-on experience on lifts, particularly repairs, mechanical and electrical fault-finding or technically demanding interventions
Relevant lift engineering qualifications, training or equivalent industry experience
A sound understanding of lift mechanical and electrical systems, including reading technical drawings and schematics
Experience diagnosing faults, choosing the right repair and replacing components
A thorough understanding of safe working practices, including risk assessments and isolation procedures
The confidence to work independently, organise your interventions and make sound technical decisions
Clear communication and the ability to work well with other engineers and Operations colleagues
What would make you stand out
Experience of major or technically complex lift repairs
Troubleshooting experience across different manufacturers, systems or technologies
Experience investigating recurring faults and their root causes
Familiarity with digital diagnostic tools and maintenance reporting systems
Experience supporting less experienced engineers
💡 What you should know before joining us
Site-based, hands-on work: you’ll travel between customer sites across London, often working in lift shafts and machine rooms.
Technically demanding repairs: you’ll often be the person working out why something failed, not just swapping a part.
Real autonomy: you’ll own your repairs from diagnosis to returning the lift to service, with the team behind you when needed.
This role will particularly suit someone who enjoys getting to the root of technical problems. It may be less suited to someone looking for a routine servicing role.
🎁 What we offer
A role with a direct impact on the reliability of the lifts we maintain.
Genuine autonomy in how you diagnose and carry out repairs.
Digital tools that give you equipment history and condition in the field.
Opportunities for professional development and internal mobility.
Salary: £52,000–£62,000 per year.
Full-time position based in London.

✍️ How to apply
We carefully review every application. We’re not necessarily looking for someone who ticks every single box on a job description, and we know that the strongest career paths aren’t always the most conventional.
We also recognise that women, in particular, can be less likely to apply for a position unless they meet every listed requirement. So, if you’re reading this and thinking, “This role sounds like a great fit, but I don’t quite tick every box”, we’d genuinely encourage you to apply anyway. What matters most to us is what you can bring to the role, how you think, how you collaborate with others and the impact you could have at WeMaintain.
We value diversity in backgrounds, experiences and perspectives, and we’re committed to creating an inclusive working environment. Every application is considered fairly, regardless of background, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, beliefs or personal circumstances.
